FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Radical Publishers Alliance launch #RadicalMay, an online festival of books, discussion and ideas to change the world.
The new capitalist crisis triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic has profoundly affected our society. Today, the need for critical left-wing thinking is more important than ever to combat both the rise of the far right and the pandemic aftermath.
Radical May brings together authors and publishers of all continents for an inspiring and multilingual programme of round tables, talks and debates with some of the world’s leading radical thinkers. Events include ‘Beyond Alternatives: Disability, Madness and Prison Abolition’ featuring Angela Y. Davis, Beth Richie, Liat Ben-Moshe, Maya Schenwar, and Victoria Law in conversation and organised by The New Press, and ‘Anticapitalism and Work’, with Gargi Bhattacharyya, Vijay Prashad, Dalia Gebrial, Amelia Horgan, organised by the Left Book Club. All the event details can be found on the Radical May website.
Radical May is organised by LITERAL—a radical festival of books and ideas—in partnership with the Radical Publishers Alliance. With events running in many different time zones and languages, we speak to a truly global audience—people and organisations who wish to challenge our broken social and economic systems and organize for a better, more radical future.
Participating publishers include Pluto Press (UK), Verso (US and UK), Haymarket (US), Left Book Club (UK), Fernwood Publishing (Canada), OR Books (US), Between the Lines (Canada), New Society Publishers (Canada), Charles H Kerr Publishing (US), Common Notions (US), and Kersplebedeb (Canada).
